Resilient South: community climate change adaptation brand and media

For the best part of two decades all the talk about climate change was about how bad it could be. Resilient South is all about how good we can be as communities in being positive; adapting to the challenges and making the opportunities presented by our changed (and changing) climate.

Resilient South is an innovative, values-based regional climate change adaptation program that involves four local government organisations and a broad cross-section of their communities. The program, led by a consortium including Ecocreative won the 2014 Climate Adaptation Champions award at the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) awards, noted as setting "the benchmark for local government response to climate change".

Like the program, the creative work needed to be adaptable and suited to a team approach. We created a flexible brand identity that could accommodate four different councils and visual strength in a research- and engagement-intensive environment. We built an image library representative of the region and tailored components for web as well as a range of templates for reports and presentations, for use by the project manager and various members of the consortium working in engagement and planning.

Through the project, we helped communicate how things were evolving through a series of newsletters, culminating in a feature infographic mapping the adaptation pathways that are now becoming a standard in this important shift in the way we deal with climate change, humankind’s wickedest problem!
